“Conor will not be used to nurture young talent”

Daniel Cormier doesn’t believe Conor McGregor will return to the UFC just to train another young fighter.

McGregor’s highly anticipated return to the UFC remains a mystery as neither an opponent nor a date has been confirmed. “Notorious” has been the subject of calls from fighters such as Jorge Masvidal, Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira. However, the uncertainty surrounding his return means nothing has been agreed.

Speaking on the talk about fights YouTube channel, ‘DC’ revealed that he originally wanted to see the Irishman fight Nate Diaz or Michael Chandler. Cormier isn’t sure what’s next for McGregor.

“I thought he should fight Nate Diaz. I thought he was going to fight Michael Chandler, but it looks like Chandler is going to fight [Dustin Poirier]. I really don’t know what’s next for Conor McGregor.”

He added:

“I don’t think you can just put him in there with anybody. I don’t think you can just put him in there with anybody. Whoever he’s fighting has to have some value of name, Conor will not be used to nurturing young talent.”

The UFC star is currently recovering from a serious leg injury during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier last year. Dana White previously said he believed McGregor would return to the octagon in early 2023.

However, there is no information to suggest that the Irishman is about to accept a fight with an opponent.
