COLUMBIA, Missouri – J’den Cox, a three-time NCAA national champion and 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, will be the top-ranked contender of four current and former Mizzou wrestlers at the team trials at the men’s freestyle world championships in Lincoln, Neb.
The men will face other American wrestlers to determine who qualifies for the United States team and travel to Norway for the 2021 World Championships.
Cox (2014-17) is the # 1 seed in the 92kg weight class. He is joined by former and current volunteer assistant Dom Bradley (2009-13), who will wrestle as the No. 3 seed at 125kg.
Joining the two former Tigers will be juniors Brock Mauller and Jarrett Jacques. The two will both wrestle at 70kg as the No.9 and No.10 seeds, respectively. Mauller has just completed his third All-American season in Colombia, where he finished fifth at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis.
Jacques was a 2021 NCAA qualifier at 157 pounds. He ended his 2020-21 season with a 3-2 record at the domestic tournament.
“We are thrilled to see our current and former wrestlers take on some of the best competition the United States has to offer,” said the head coach. Brian smith noted. “Brock and Jarrett have worked hard to get to this point in their athletic career and I can’t wait to see them come out and show what they have.”
The competition will be broadcast on FloWrestling from 10:00 am CT on Saturday and Sunday September 11-12.
