Dana White makes statement on whether UFC will sever ties with Jon Jones after recent arrest

During his rich career in combat sports, Jon Jones often found himself on the wrong side of the law. As a result, Jones’ future in the promotion is in question. Dana White recently raised the possibility of removing Jones from the UFC after his latest clash with the law.

The UFC supremo claimed the promotion seeks to wait for updates from law enforcement organizations before making rash decisions. However, he also revealed that they face many similar issues while working with high performance athletes.

During a conversation with the media at Dana White Contender Series 41 post-fight event, White brought up the situation with Jon Jones, saying:

“I have 650 guys… there’s stuff going on here every day. It’s all about the fight, man. Every day we have things going on, things that you don’t know and that we deal with on a daily basis. You just heard about the shit that ends up in the media. So that’s what we do. We’ll see how this matter goes legally with him, and we’ll take it from there.

Should the UFC part ways with Jon Jones?

Jon Jones was one of, if not the most controversial, fighters in the UFC. A rap sheet of seemingly endless transgressions overshadows his accomplishments inside the Octagon.

Dating back to 2012, some of the biggest scandals that have seen Jon Jones in the thick of it include DWI offenses, hit and run, battery charges, and more. Apart from these legal issues, the failed drug tests really marred the record he set in the UFC.

One would imagine that the UFC would like to keep “Bones” because of his star power and potential to generate a significant amount of money. However, the former light heavyweight champion has been out of action since his last fight against Dominick Reyes in 2020.

Jon Jones has prepared to move into the heavyweight division for the first time in his career, aiming to fight in the second quarter of 2022. That said, given the charges and ongoing legal proceedings, he remains to see how it all. play.
