Main event

The main event of UFC Fight Night Paris will see Robert Whittaker facing Marvin Vettori in a five-round middleweight contest.

Athleticism confirmed that the company had scheduled the fight for the main event of the first-ever Paris event.

Originally, Whittaker vs Vettori was scheduled to take place at UFC 275 but had to be canceled due to an injury suffered by Whittaker.

Talk to Fox Sports Australia’s Ronny LernerWhittaker revealed he’s hoping for a trilogy fight against the middleweight champion Israel Adesanyaif he were to beat Vettori in France.

He said: “I really think a trilogy is possible mainly because of the ongoing Holloway-Volkanovski trilogy fight. Especially considering how close my fight was with Izzy last time around, I really think it’s a possibility very real.

“A third fight between me and Izzy is inevitable because I will again trample anyone who comes before me.

“He [Adesanya] knows it too, that’s why he said he would see me in the future. I don’t see him losing the belt any time soon. It is good. It is good. I think I’m the person to beat him. And my mission remains the same, beat the next guy in front of me.
