Former UFC champ Vitor Belfort to box Hasim Rahman Jr. for KSI promotion


Vitor Belfort is not finished yet.

A former UFC light heavyweight champion, Belfort (1-0) will continue his boxing excursion when he takes on Hasim Rahman Jr. (12-1) at DAZN X Series 002, the promotion has announced. at his first event on Friday which included YouTuber KSI.

The Belfort vs Rahman event is scheduled for October 15 in Sheffield, England, and will serve as one half of a double main event. The second main event will be announced at a later date. KSI’s promotion, Misfits Boxing, will be promoting the event.

Belfort, 45, made his professional boxing debut in September when he knocked out 58-year-old former boxing champion Evander Holyfield in 104 seconds. After the fight was not allowed in California for safety reasons, it was scrutinized by some due to the competitors’ ages. instead moved to Florida.

The fight marked the first professional combat sports competition for Belfort since his last UFC fight against Lyoto Machida in May 2018.

After the Holyfield match, Belfort was scheduled to compete in a hybrid match against Chad Dawson for Triad Combat. However, the event was canceled and the fight was not rescheduled.

Rahman Jr, 31, was scheduled to box Jake Paul in Madison Square Garden on August 6. However, after Most Valuable Promotions perceived that Rahman Jr. would not meet his weight obligations, the card was cancelled. The two parties disagreed on the annulment decision. Rahman Jr. said the promotion took the leap.

In an attempt to prove the point, Rahman Jr. held his own unofficial weigh-in and still exceeded Paul’s proposed heaviest weight limit compromise by a pound.

Going into his fight against Belfort, Rahman Jr. will be looking to bounce back from his first professional loss, a TKO loss to James McKenzie Morrison in April. The combined record of his previous opponents (at the time of his matches against them) was 56-116.
