Four Nations MMA Championships in Liverpool: How to watch and full schedule

This weekend, England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales will face off in a knockout MMA tournament in Liverpool from July 1-3. Organized by the English Mixed Martial Arts Association (EMMAA), the Four Nations has attracted some of the best amateur mixed martial arts prospects in the UK and Ireland.

The tournament will take place over 3 days, with more than 65 athletes competing from strawweight to heavyweight. It follows the IMMAF World Championships, which took place in January this year, where Ireland won 4 medals. England did not secure a podium place but had world-class talent including Four Nations contender Teddy Stringer.

Marc Goddard, Chairman of EMMAA, explained what he thinks the tournament will bring to MMA fans in the British Isles: “It’s a good old fashioned Four Nations between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The young participants are the stars of tomorrow. The action begins Friday, July 1, with the semi-finals on Saturday before the finals and bronze medal bouts taking place on Sunday.

Dan Hardy, who is a former UFC star and EMMAA board member, said: “It’s three days of fighting, the four nations involved, four or eight person tournaments depending on the category of weight. We have first, second and third podiums.

“We have £500 for the standout athlete of the weekend, and EMAA has partnered with RDX for the tournament fightwear package, so there are plenty of great kits floating around.” He added. “It’s going to be a live pay-per-view and there’s a Sky documentary team coming in. It’s going to be awesome.”
