Here’s why Cejudo thinks Conor McGregor should fight Jorge Masvidal – MMA Fighting

KARACHI: Conor McGregor is set to face Jorge Masvidal in his UFC return, according to Henry Cejudo, due to the fight’s potential pay-per-view.

McGregor has tweeted videos of himself training in a mix of boxing and MMA as he continues to recover from the fractured leg he suffered in last July’s loss to Dustin Poirier.

The Irishman said on social media this week that he intends to return to 170lbs after putting on weight during rehabilitation.

As McGregor has been sidelined, several fighters have called for his return, including Masvidal, a hugely popular figure who hasn’t fought since losing to Colby Covington in March.

“It’s a good fight for Conor McGregor. Why? It’s because there’s no wrestling. You want guys who can punch and want to punch and don’t want to wrestle. Also, Jorge Masvidal didn’t win a fight.” Cejudo said on his YouTube channel.

“I think he’s on a three or four game losing streak? Something like that? But I think Jorge Masvidal would be the best comeback for him, 170 pounds. They both have a spokesperson. Imagine how much pay-per-views they could sell.”

Earlier this year, Masvidal and McGregor exchanged verbal jabs on social media, which thrilled fans who wanted to see the two popular pay-per-view draws go head-to-head. Considering both fighters are on losing streaks — McGregor has won just one of his last four UFC fights — a matchup between the two would make sense.
