With a fight at UFC 270 later this month, South Korean Ji Yeon Kim will now compete in February.

Kim (9-4-2) will face Brazil’s Priscila Cachoeira (10-4) at the UFC’s Fight Night event on Feb. 26, 2022. Cageside Press has confirmed the women’s flyweight booking with multiple sources at the following an initial report by SCMP/AllStar Sport reporter John Hyon Ko.

Earlier today, Kim posted a heartfelt message about her battle with COVID, which she overcame – only to have a positive test from opponent Poliana Botelho call their fight off.

Three weeks ago I tested positive for COVID-19 before the fight. Because of this I was unable to continue my fight camp and had to train at home, but even that was such a hard thing to do due to lung complications,” Kim wrote on the posts. social networks. “I was constantly losing my breath and my voice even during 5 minute exercises I was doing. I thought a lot about putting off the fight because of the state I was in, but luckily I managed to immerse myself to fight form by repeating intensive training in a week and a half, coming back there where I had left off but unfortunately my opponent too ended up testing positive for Covid-19 before fight week.

“Even though the UFC and my management tried urgently to keep me on the card but nothing worked, ultimately canceling my fight next week.”

Luckily, it will only be a month before Kim fights again. When she enters the octagon against Cachoeira, she will be looking to break a two-fight skid. In her last two outings, Kim has lost decisions to Alexa Grasso and Molly McCann.

Cachoeira will also be looking to bounce back from a recent defeat in February. The Brazilian was submitted by Gillian Robertson in December, in a fierce fight that saw Cachoeira charged with multiple eye gashes.

Prior to that, Cachoeira had been on a two-fight winning streak, beating Shana Dobson and Gina Mazany.
