UFC Fight Night 214 lost a fight the morning of the event.

Heavyweight Josh Parisian was scheduled to face Chase Sherman on the main event card which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, but after a long early morning trip to the ER, the fight is now over.

Parisien (15-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC), half of the only heavyweight fight on the card, explained the situation on Facebook, describing the morning as “one of the worst days of my life.” According to Le Parisien, he spent more than five and a half hours in hospital on Saturday morning due to chest pain, nausea and palpitations.

One of the worst days of my life. Unfortunately, I will not fight tonight. I woke up at 1:07 this morning with my heart pounding in my chest and drenched in sweat. I tried to relax for the next 2 hours but had chest pains, cold sweats, nausea and dizziness. I decided to go to the emergency room around 3am and stayed there until 8:30am. They managed to get rid of my nausea and chest pain, but my palpitations had gotten worse. In over 50 fights, I have never pulled or been pulled from one. I am devastated for myself, everyone who helped me in this camp, the ufc, the fans and my opponent. I’ll see my cardiologist when I get home to see what’s going on with my heart and go from there.

Saturday’s fight would have been Paris’s second in 2022. He defeated Alan Baudot by second-round TKO at UFC on ESPN 38 in June. Dana White’s Contender Series veteran has competed four times under the UFC banner since joining the promotion in 2020.

UFC Fight Night 214 will continue with 11 fights.
