The PFL announced their official roster for their 2021 final on October 27 – and unsurprisingly, undefeated lightweight Kayla Harrison will top the list.
Harrison (11-0) will headline the PFL event against Taylor Guardado (3-1), who became an unexpected finalist in 2021. The event will feature all six finals, the winner of each weight class winning the PFL mark at $ 1. million prizes. The event takes place in Hollywood, Florida and airs on ESPN2.
Harrison is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in judo and is looking to win her second PFL Championship. She has become one of the biggest stars of the PFL, as she has been simply dominant since her transition to full-time MMA in 2018. She trains at the American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Fla., The same home as UFC double-weight champion Amanda Nunes. .
In addition to the six-game finals, which includes an intriguing welterweight rematch between Ray Cooper III and Magomed Magomedkerimov, the PFL event will feature boxing champion Claressa Shields’ second MMA appearance. Shields, who won her professional MMA debut in June, will face Mexico’s Abigail Montes.
Former UFC middleweight Omari Akhmedov will also make a non-tournament appearance on the card. The 33-year-old Russian, who fought exclusively in the UFC from 2013-2021, will meet Jordan Young on the night’s undercard.
