Michael Chandler interested in fighting Nate Diaz at welterweight

Michael Chandler included Nate Diaz on the list of fighters he would likely face next.

Additionally, Chandler – who has fought at lightweight his entire career – has claimed he’s ready to move up to welterweight to make the fight happen.

Fresh out of a string of high profile clashes in 2021, Chandler is on the hunt for his next opponent. In an interview with Ariel Helwani on MMA time, the UFC lightweight has revealed he expects to fight Conor McGregor or Tony Ferguson in his next fight. However, ‘Iron’ kicked off a curve by including Diaz as a potential dance partner.

The former three-time lightweight Bellator champion said:

“No one has ever talked about me and Nate Diaz beating us up. But for some reason I’m like ‘Me and Nate Diaz should probably share the octagon at some point.’ And obviously his contract is running out. He’s planning to fight Poirier, that’s the fight he said he wanted. But then he called the UFC and the UFC said Poirier sucks. Tony Ferguson says match against Michael Chandler is in the works

Tony Ferguson has revealed that a fight with fellow lightweight star Michael Chandler is in the works for later this year. The former interim UFC lightweight champion had previously taken to social media to announce that he was discussing a possible showdown with Chandler in April or June.

“El Cucuy” tweeted:
