The North Haven High School Athletic Department is thrilled to announce the appointment of Peter Tseperkas as the new – and first – head coach of the Nighthawks wrestling program.
Tseperkas coached wrestling for Stratford High from 2004 to 2010. Prior to that, from 1999 to 2004, he coached the wrestling team at Salem High in Massachusetts.
For the past five years, Tseperkas has taught Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Soulcraft Martial Arts. Additionally, he was a volunteer coach for Amity Youth Wrestling in Woodbridge and for North Haven Youth Football.
NHHS Athletic Director Steve Blumenthal said: “We are very pleased to have Coach Tseperkas as North Haven’s first wrestling coach at North Haven High School. Pete has the energy, enthusiasm and knowledge to get North Haven wrestling off the ground and have the program competitive in the very near future.
As an athlete, Tseperkas wrestled at Western New England University.
In high school, Tseperkas won a four-year letter for Rocky Point High School in Long Island, and was a two-time conference winner and runner-up.
In addition, he was a multiple-time New York State Laureate for Greco-Roman and Freestyle at the youth and cadet levels.
Tseperkas is a college science teacher in Stratford and a volunteer paramedic. He lives in North Haven with his wife and three children.
