UFC 242 Khabib vs Poirier is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that is planned to take place on September 7, 2019 at du Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov called back to his antics at UFC 229 last year, saying he’ll stay in the cage at UFC 242 this September.
The undisputed UFC lightweight champion will be determined at the end of the summer when Khabib Nurmagomedovand Dustin Poirier collide for the belt at UFC 242.
The event takes place Sept. 7 at The Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+/UFC Fight Pass.
Following Friday’s summer news conference in Las Vegas, Nurmagomedov (27-0 MMA, 11-0 UFC) and Poirier (25-5 MMA, 17-4 UFC) came face to face for the final time before heading overseas to share the octagon.

UFC 242 will be available on several different channels at different times. That’s because there are two preliminary rounds — the early prelims and the prelims — followed by the Main Card. And unfortunately, they’re all on different services.
At the UFC 2019 Summer Press Conference in Las Vegas Friday, all the expected names were on hand. Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar (the latter of whom seemed to go unnoticed). Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic.Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker, who will headline UFC 243. And of course, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier, booked for a lightweight title unification bout at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi.
The last time Nurmagomedov fought in the UFC is a day that will live in MMA infamy. The lightweight champ nearly sparked a riot when he scaled the octagon and jumped into the crowd to attack Conor McGregor’s corner at UFC 229 last October.
On Friday, ‘The Eagle’ promised a similar performance in the cage, but made sure to add that his efforts will stay confined to the octagon.
When is UFC 242 and what time does it start in the UK?
The huge fight card is on Saturday 7 September at du Arena in Abu Dhabi.
The early prelims start at 11.30pm UK time on Saturday night, but the main card will start at around 3am UK time Sunday and the main event likely to be close to 5am.
What TV channel is UFC 242 on and is there a live stream?
This is the first UFC 242 event that BT Sport will be showing on pay-per-view so it will set you back £19.95.
