Tatiana Suarez vs Nina Ansaroff booked for UFC 238 on June 8 in Chicago

Undefeated (7-0, 4-0 UFC) women’s Strawweight wrecking machine Tatiana Suarez will make her her return to action on June 8 as she has been booked to face off against Nina Ansaroff at the upcoming UFC 238 pay-per-view (PPV) event according to MMA Fighting.

Tatiana is coming off another dominant performance, shutting down former division champion Carla Esparza at UFC 228 last September to earn her fourth straight win inside the Octagon. Nina, meanwhile, has been on a tear herself, winning four in a row including her latest win over former title contender, Claudia Gadelha, at UFC 231 last December.

Also, Joanne Calderwood will look to make it three in a row as she will face Katlyn Chookagian in women’s Flyweight action. UFC 238 currently doesn’t have an official headliner, but recent reports suggest Valentina Shevchenko could defend her Flyweight belt against Jessica Eye at the event.

 Valentina Shevchenko will be making her first UFC flyweight title defense in June in Chicago. While the bout agreements haven’t been signed yet, the promotion is close to matching up Shevchenko with Jessica Eye at UFC 238.

Shevchenko (16-3, 5-2 UFC) claimed the vacant title in December by winning a one-sided decision victory over former 115-pound champ Joanna Jedzrejczyk. Her only two losses in the UFC were to bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes – both very close decisions that could have gone either way.

Eye (14-6, 1 NC, 4-5, 1 NC UFC) has completely turned her career around since the introduction of the UFC 125-pound division. She has won three bouts in a row, defeating Kalindra Faria, Jessica-Rose Clark, and Katlyn Chookagian.

UFC 238 will take place June 8th in the United Center in Chicago. It is expected that this bout will serve as a co-main event, while another title fight will serve as the headliner.

Conor McGregor could return this summer, possibly against Donald Cerrone at UFC 238

The only summer pay-per-view event on the current schedule is UFC 238 on June 8, though both the location and the card have yet to be announced.

Whoever McGregor fights next, it could set up an anticipated rematch with Nurmagomedov, a bout White has said “should happen” late in 2019.

Nurmagomedov kept his UFC lightweight belt with a fourth-round submission of McGregor at UFC 229, after which he leaped over the cage and charged at Dillon Danis, one of McGregor’s cornermen.

Nurmagomedov’s team, meanwhile, rushed the cage and attacked McGregor himself. The Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended Nurmagomedov for nine months as a result.

Conor McGregor is serving a six-month suspension levied by the Nevada State Athletic Commission over his role in a brawl that occurred after his UFC 229 loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October.

The sanction ends on April 6, and the Irish mixed martial artist likely will need a few months to get back into fighting shape before his return to the octagon. On Friday, UFC President Dana White all but confirmed that timetable, telling MMA Junkie he’d “like to see Conor fight this summer.”

His opponent could be Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, who scored a TKO win over Alexander Hernandez at UFC on ESPN+ 1 in January.

UFC 238 booked for United Center in Chicago on June 8

UFC 238 is headed to United Center in Chicago on June 8, the promotion announced Saturday during the broadcast for UFC 234. The event will be the second time the United Center, home of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks, will host a UFC pay-per-view event.

The event’s main card will air on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass. No fights have been announced for the card.

The UFC first went to the Chicago metro area in 2008 with UFC 90, but that event took place at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., a northwest suburb of the city. Its first event in the city proper was UFC on FOX 2 in January 2012, featuring Rashad Evans’ win over Phil Davis in the headliner. That event marked the start of five straight years of UFC on FOX shows at United Center.

UFC on FOX 6 in January 2013 was the United Center’s first title fight – then-flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson’s first of two wins over John Dodson. UFC on FOX 10 in January 2014 was a lightweight main event that saw Benson Henderson top Josh Thomson.

Then the events in Chicago shifted from the week before the Super Bowl and typically frigid temperatures in the “Windy City” to late July – and typically scorching weather with high humidity. UFC on FOX 16 in July 2015 was T.J. Dillashaw’s bantamweight title rematch win over former champ Renan Barao. And UFC on FOX 20 in July 2016 saw Valentina Shevchenko top Holly Holm in a women’s bantamweight headliner.

In 2018, after a year of no events in Chicago, the United Center got its first pay-per-view. UFC 225 in June 2018 had two title fights at the top of the card. Colby Covington beat Rafael dos Anjos for the interim welterweight title. And middleweight champion Robert Whittaker beat Yoel Romero by split decision – though his belt wasn’t on the line since Romero missed weight.

UFC 238 will be the second of four UFC events scheduled for the month of June. It’s the first one to have its location revealed.

After UFC 234 on Saturday night in Melbourne, Australia, UFC 235 is set for March 2 in Las Vegas, UFC 236 is set for April 13 in a location still to be announced, and UFC 237 takes place May 18 in Curitiba, Brazil.
