Las Vegas, NV – The “Sugar Show” continues this weekend, with Sean O’Malley riding a three-fight winning streak in his fight with Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276.
Still brimming with confidence, the colorful bantamweight thinks he could be just a few fights away from a title shot with a win on Saturday night. And even with the Munhoz fight still ongoing, O’Malley (15-1) was asked to scout potential future opponents during Wednesday’s media day.
“There’s a little Russian guy running around saying no one wants to fight him. It is an option. Fob Front [Rob Font] could be an option; he’s been beaten a few times, so that may not be the case. The division is crazy right now,” O’Malley observed. “A lot of guys are already booked. So we’ll just have to see how the fighting plays out here in the next two months.
“We’ll have to see how this fight goes, and maybe I’ll spit out a name after Joe Rogan stands next to me, call someone out. I’m a few fights away from a title fight, especially if I can get the finishes that I did,” O’Malley continued, suggesting fans would want to see it. “People want to see that, people want to see me be champion. So I just have to go out there, play, do what I know I can do, which is turn off Pedro’s lights.
With his recent performances — three finishes all by KO/TKO — O’Malley only plans to get the job done one way with UFC 276.
“Anyone that’s my weight, my weight class, I can see myself standing in front of them and knocking them out. I’ve done it over and over and over again; it’s hard not to consider it. Everyone I fights, I knock them out. That’s just how I see this fight going, that’s how I see any fight that I’m going to be in. Just that I put my hands on their chin enough to times, and they fall.
