CWG 2022 Day 8 Live Updates: The wrestling action was halted for two hours after a loudspeaker fell from the ceiling. When it resumed, Anshu Malik, Sakshi Malik, Deepak Punia and Bajrang Punia booked their place in the gold medal game. In the bronze medal matches, Divya Kakran and Mohit Grewal. Elsewhere, paddlers, commuters and lawn bowlers scored victories. Bhavina Patel secured a medal by reaching the final 3-5 in the women’s singles classes in para table tennis.

Overview of day 8: India has so far 20 medals including six gold and is seventh in the table. Two medals came on Day 7 with Sudhir winning a historic gold in the para powerlifting and M Sreeshankar added another historic silver in the men’s long jump event.

More medals are expected on day eight as the Indian women’s team take on Australia in the hockey semi-finals. It’s a repeat of the thrilling quarter-finals of the 2020 Olympics.

Indian wrestlers start the campaign with Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Deepak Punia, Divya Kakran, Anshu Malik and Mohit Grewal competing today. They will be looking to secure medals with quarter-final wins.

In badminton, PV Sindhu will be back to play in the round of 16. Kidambi Srikanth, Lakshya Sen and Aakarshi Kashyap will also play their round of 16 singles matches. Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty and Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand will play in the Men’s and Women’s Doubles Round of 16 respectively.

In para table tennis, Bhavina Patel and Sonalben Patel will play in the women’s singles semifinals class 3-5. Manika Batra/G Sathiyan and Sharath Kamal/Akul Sreeja will play their mixed doubles round of 16 respectively. Sreeja and Reeth Tennison will also play their round of 16 singles matches.

In athletics, Jyothi Yarraji and the men’s 4x400m relay team will be in action. Ancy Edapilly will take part in the women’s long jump qualification.
