Stipe Miocic adds ‘business owner’ to take over with new pizza partnership in Ohio

Firefighter, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion and business owner Stipe Miocic apparently can’t help but juggle as many professions as possible.

It was announced today (Tuesday, October 4, 2022) that Miocic has partnered with Romeo’s Pizza restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio as co-owners. Romeo’s has over 60 locations and will see Miocic assist the Parma, Ohio location, where he will support via brand building efforts across the United States.

“Pizza makes the world go round,” Miocic told QSR. “I’ve spent the last 20 years eating at Romeo’s, and to me, it’s the best pizza in Ohio…and the world. “A business venture related to one of my favorite foods is the best opportunity I could ask for.”

While Miocic remains busy outside of the Octagon with his new pizza-related endeavors, the mixed martial arts (MMA) community awaits his return.

The former UFC Heavyweight titleholder turned 40 in August 2022 and hasn’t fought since dropping his crown to Francis Ngannou in their March 2021 rematch (see highlights).

Despite Miocic’s long hiatus, his comeback fight was expected to be among the best in the division. In the event the Ngannou vs. Jon Jones megafight can’t come together, UFC President Dana White noted that Miocic would be the likely candidate to welcome Jones to the division. At this point, it’s just a matter of when.

The champion, Ngannou, underwent surgery to repair some knee injuries after his title defense in January 2022 against Ciryl Gane (see highlights). The timing for “The Predator” has been mooted in early 2023. However, Ngannou still hopes to negotiate some sort of boxing possibility when he speaks with the UFC about his immediate future.
