There were reports earlier this month that suggested a second fight between the undefeated five divisions boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and cfu Legend Conor McGregor could happen.
Considering the regard with which both fighters are held in their respective disciplines, this is something fans would want to see. Well, casual combat sports fans anyway. Die-hard fans may not want to see it again due to their displeasure with seeing all these exhibition fights happening throughout the year.
The Irishman was surprisingly able to take Mayweather down in round 10 before the 11-time world champion claimed the fight via TKO, with McGregor looking physically exhausted and dead on his feet. The win took the American’s unbeaten streak to 50 professional fights.
The pre-fight meetings were pretty spicy as well, with neither man willing to give an inch.
Footage of press conferences and matchups is always popular, with many flocking to YouTube to reminisce about some of the buildup to the fight.
In most pre-fight shenanigans, McGregor is the initial aggressor, showing that he’s never been intimidated by reputations, and in this one in particular, he’s damn scary.
“Boom! Get off the canvas. And a new king of boxing,” was a whispered message from the Irishman, notifying his intent.
Mayweather, however, kept his cool and deadpanned, “You’re a comedian.”
McGregor then said, “It’s Bruce Lee s***,” before looking into Mayweather’s eyes and wishing him well.
Mayweather, with the confidence of a man who had 49 undefeated fights behind him, also wished McGregor well.
One fan commented, “’Boom, head off the canvas. And the NEW king of boxing.” I will always like that.
And another posted: “I love the way he says the new king of boxing.”
Others enjoyed Mayweather referring to McGregor as a comedian, with one saying, “You’re a comedian…so cold.” “
And some fans took to McGregor playing the comedian’s commentary with the “Bruce Lee s***” comment and pose.
While Mayweather won the fight, McGregor took huge credit for stepping out of his specialty discipline and competing with an all-time great. Many commented on this saying the fight probably lasted longer than the boxing legend felt comfortable with.

Some more cynical fans have commented on the size of both fighters’ purses. The event had been billed as “The Money Fight” with figures over $150 million.
Some of the cynics claimed the pre-fight word exchange and the 10-round fight were all designed to escalate things and secure a big payday. However, this theory completely ignores the pride, dedication and will to win of two great champions.
