Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz has revealed his favorite fighter to watch competing today.
Ortiz was recently interviewed by Helen Yee and asked about his favorite fighter to watch mixed martial arts (MMA) competition right now. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” named the highest-ranked lightweight Michael Chandler as its pick.
“One of my favorites to watch right now? I would have to say Michael Chandler,” Ortiz said. “The turnaround he’s made in his career is just amazing.
“It shows that hard work really pays off. The knockout he did against Tony, I was just like, ‘Wow, Ferguson has never been knocked out like that.’
“But he got caught with a good right kick, and that kind of freaked me out a little. what’s going on?’ He went out for a minute… It’s scary.
Chandler is definitely an excellent choice. “Iron” is currently leading one of the biggest knockout victories in UFC history. He knocked out Tony Ferguson in the second round of their UFC 274 pay-per-view (PPV) match.
A front kick to the face nailed Ferguson perfectly, knocking him unconscious for the first time in his career. Chandler, a relative newcomer to the UFC and already a former lightweight title challenger, ended a two-fight losing streak with the win.
As for Ortiz himself, he’s gearing up for a promised return to MMA before the end of the year. Ortiz has teased that he’s already in talks with an unnamed promotion about his comeback bout, but no opponent has been named as of this writing.
