Udovit Klein proud to be Slovakia’s first UFC fighter

LONDON, UK – UFC lightweight L’udovit Klein scored an upset against Mason Jones when he picked up a decision win at UFC London on Saturday night.

“I had a tough fight tonight because my opponent is a strong guy, very tough. I know I’m ready for this fight, for three rounds, for three hard rounds and I know I’m winning this fight,” Klein told Cageside Press, among other media outlets, during his post-fight melee.

“I know he’s a very tough guy. He fights at welterweight in Cage Warriors. He was champion in two divisions, and me, he is tough but I was prepared for that.

With a good win under his belt, Klein still plans to rest a few days before returning to training and planning his next move.

“I’m coming home, resting for a few days and going straight to the gym and I’ll be ready for the next challenge. Hopefully soon because I’m healthy, I don’t have any injuries and I have hungry,” Klein said.

Klein is the first Slovak fighter to fight in the UFC, which is very dear to him.

“It was a pleasure for me because my country is not very big, but I’m happy to be here. As the first Slovak fighter in the UFC,” Klein said.

As the lightweight division waits for a champion to be named when former 155-pound king Charles Oliveira takes on Islam Makhachev at UFC 280, many have offered their predictions, including Klein.

“My prediction is that Islam Makhachev will be the winner of this fight, but it will be a tough fight. I think Islam Makhachev wins this fight,” he said.
