We’ve reached the midpoint of the year and the UFC has seen incredible action in the first half of 2022. The promotion has seen champions retain their titles in unexpected ways, massive upsets and more drama than usual among its star athletes.
International Fight Week saw City Kickboxing continue their dominance with Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski turning down title challengers. Adesanya edged out Jared Cannonier while Volkanovski beat Max Holloway in their third meeting.
Now all eyes are on the Lone Star State for a pair of rematches at UFC 277. Julianna Pena will be looking to repeat the impossible when she takes on Amanda Nunes with the bantamweight title on the line. Pena scored a second-round submission from Nunes in December to mark one of the biggest upsets in MMA history. Additionally, former flyweight titleholder Brandon Moreno is looking to end Kai Kara-France’s winning streak as they battle for interim gold.
