Welcome to today’s edition of Sportskeeda’s daily MMA news digest, where we feature the biggest UFC updates and other stories from the world of mixed martial arts.

In today’s issue, we talk about Daniel Cormier thinking it’s the end of the road for a certain UFC contender, Conor McGregor potentially losing millions of Twitter followers, and more.

#3. Daniel Cormier thinks it may be time for Dominick Reyes to retire from the UFC

Daniel Cormier thinks it might be time for Dominick Reyes to hang up the gloves.

This comes after Reyes suffered a third straight knockout loss at UFC 281. With that in mind, former UFC two-division champion Cormier thinks Reyes may not have bigger- thing in the tank. He said on the DC and RC show:

“Is it time for Dominick Reyes to walk away after what Ryan Spann did to him?… Because we have a guy who was close to becoming the champion against Jon Jones, getting knocked out by Jiri [Prochazka] who is the champion, and Jan Blachowicz who was the champion. Now he’s not fighting champions anymore, he lost to a Ryan Spann guy who’s now won two in a row.”

Reyes nearly dethroned Jon Jones in 2020. Unfortunately, he never recovered from the loss and hasn’t won a fight since.

#2. Henry Cejudo plays on Aljamain Sterling

Henry Cejudo came after bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling on social media.

In an attempt to discredit Sterling’s championship run, Cejudo pointed out that “Funk Master” took two rounds to beat a badly injured TJ Dillashaw. However, Cejudo also applied self-deprecating humor, saying that Sterling is the only fighter who makes him likeable:

“Aljo, you are the only champion who makes me likeable. I won the gold medal and you won the Oscar. The only person you ever put to sleep was the paying public. It took you 2 rounds to complete a disabled juicebox.”

#1. Conor McGregor will lose nearly half of his Twitter followers

Conor McGregor could lose nearly half of his Twitter followers if new owner Elon Musk continues with his plan to eradicate fictitious accounts.

Gambling.com conducted SparkToro’s fake follower audit to determine which fighter might be most affected by Musk’s crackdown.

According to the audit, McGregor is the biggest loser, with 4.1 million of his estimated 9.6 million fake subscribers. That would mean McGregor could lose 42.3% of his total subscribers.
