cfu Welterweight Khamzat Chimaev sparked a media storm after failing to make weight for his last fight against Nate Diazexcept our insiders say he only ate healthy foods like salad while he was at Circa Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
As you know, Khamzat next fought Kevin Holland in a last-minute card change in UFC 279. Chimaev needed less than three minutes to force Holland into submission, forcing a stoppage at 2:13 of the first frame. It’s common to wonder about the trips these fighters take before Fight Week, outside of their rigid training schedules. Here’s the scoop on some of Chimaev’s whereabouts!

We’re told Chimaev arrived in Vegas early, the week before fight week, where he visited downtown Las Vegas’ newest and hottest property, Circa Resort & Casino. At the time, he ended up calling Circa Executive, Richard Wilck which is known for taking care of athletes, celebrities and influencers coming to Vegas.
Upon arrival, he was escorted to his sumptuous suite and had time to relax with his team, before descending to experience all the resort had to offer. The welterweight star has a personal chef who cooks custom meals, but that hasn’t stopped him from heading to the famous celebrity hotspot Barry’s Downtown Prime.
Las Vegas’ hottest new steakhouse is always packed with stars, from J Balvin to Dennis Quaid to Mike Tyson. Chimaev and his team were escorted to Barry’s exclusive private dining room, where he was spotted “indulging” in a salad. The celebrity chef/co-owner of the restaurant Barry Dakake joined the party and discussed everything from food to Chimaev’s upcoming fight.

It seems to have been a brilliant last minute decision by Dana White and the UFC, given that the fights that took place were outstanding and left everyone wanting more.
After dinner, Chimaev met the CEO/owner of Circa Derek Stevens, and they chatted for a fight week moment, laughed a lot, and even faced off in an epic photoshoot. Before, after and during Chimaev’s chat with Derek, fans flocked to the UFC star eagerly asking for photos and video.
Chimaev was reportedly very kind to fans and was happy to strike up conversations and pose for photos with anyone who approached him. Even fans who didn’t approach him could be heard screaming and cheering around the property once he was spotted.
Vice President of Circa Operations, David Rosborough (who looks like he could win a few UFC fights himself) was also chatting with Derek, and Chimaev was also forced to meet with him to learn a bit more about the bosses at the new Vegas resort. With a UFC record of 12-0-0 and some pre-fight fuel in Circa, it seems like it didn’t matter who he was fighting; he was destined to win his match.
