Known for his versatile acting, singing, welcoming, and affinity for literature and poetry, Ayushmann Khurrana made waves long before he became a Bollywood star. Born in Chandigarh, he did theater during his college years. He also founded his university theater troupe, participated in street plays and won prizes at university festivals.
It was while in college that the star created the popular song ‘Paani Da’ with a friend. He was a popular face on reality shows and won the MTV Roadies in 2004. Host of RJ, VJ and television, Ayushmann has also appeared in daily soap operas.
In 2012, Vicky Donor made him a household name. The subject of director Shoojit Sircar was male infertility and sperm donation, something considered a daring taboo and never explored in Bollywood.
There has been no looking back since for the actor. Ayushmann became a famous hit machine, producing consecutive blockbuster films, which were well received by critics and the trade. On her birthday, let’s take a look at some of her upcoming projects:
Ayushmann Khurrana will star in the social drama directed by debutante Anubhuti Kashyap. He will play the role of Dr. Uday Gupta, in the film based on the campus of a medical institute.
Rakul Preet Singh was hired to play the lead role. Shefali Shah and Sheeba Chaddha will play other important roles. Ayushmann will team up with Jungalee Pictures, for the third time after Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) and Badhaai Ho (2018). Filming for the upcoming comedy wrapped up the first week of September. No release date has yet been officially confirmed.
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui
Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the romantic drama will bring together Ayushmann and Vaani Kapoor for the first time on the big screen. Ayushmann will play the role of a versatile athlete in what is billed as a progressive love story.
The actor inflated his form to convincingly portray his character on screen. He put on 10 kg to make a difference and trained in weightlifting and freestyle wrestling. Ayushmann, who will be sporting six-pack abs in the film, has also explored crossfit and Olympic weightlifting.
The action thriller is written and directed by Anubhav Sinha. Ayushmann and Sinha join forces for the second time after claiming gold in 2019 with the highly acclaimed Article 15. Billed as the filmmaker’s most expensive project to date, Anek has Ayushmann as a man named Joshua .
According to the actor, the film represents new age cinema and explores a subject still unexplored in Hindi cinema. The film was shot extensively in the North East.
In addition, Ayushmann has two other projects in the pot. Two unreleased films – Googly alongside Nushrratt Bharuccha and Amol Palekar remake with Choti si Baat (1976). The movies were announced a few years ago but don’t have any official updates.
