History was made at Norwalk High School on Wednesday when Alanah Vetterick was announced as the Warriors’ first-ever female wrestling head coach, pending school board approval.

The Norwalk Activities Department tweeted that Vetterick will be coaching wrestling girls in grades 7-12. Vetterick, a 2018 Norwalk graduate, wrestled collegiately at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, where she earned NAIA All-American status.

Norwalk’s Twitter also said Vetterick had 13 years of wrestling experience. She was a three-time national finalist in the USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals and All-American in the USA Wrestling Girls Freestyle Nationals. She returned to Norwalk after college and managed the Norwalk Girls Wrestling Club during the 2021–22 season.
