Watch: Vijay Deverakonda is a Mixed Martial Arts Champion in Liger’s First Look


The directors of the film, along with Ananya Pandey and American boxer Mike Tyson, also posted a special Liger-themed Instagram filter.

Tollywood star Vijay Deverakonda teamed up with director Puri Jagannadh for their highly anticipated film Liger – Saala crossing. The preview video for the film was released on December 31. It opens with a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) commentator introducing Vijay Deverakonda’s character as Liger. “Introducing the boy from India, slum dog from the streets of Mumbai, the chai wala, Liger”, we hear people say. The video features Vijay as a mixed martial arts champion.

The creators also posted a special Instagram filter with the theme of the film. To kick off the promotional activities, the creators of Vijay and Ananya Panday-starrer released a Liger– Instagram themed filter.

The creators released a video on December 30, in which Vijay showcases the Liger-themed filter on Instagram, which features lion and tiger faces, with the title inscribed at the bottom. Liger is to introduce South Bollywood actor Ananya Panday, while also marking Vijay’s first Bollywood project. American boxer Mike Tyson will be seen in Indian cinema for the first time with this film.

Scheduled for release in August 2022, the film is billed as a sports drama, which deals with mixed martial arts. Director Puri Jagannadh’s own banner, Puri Connects, co-produced Liger In association with Dharma Productions by Karan Johar. Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta are the producers.

Actors Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy also play prominent roles in Liger. Ramya Krishna appeared as Vijay’s mother in the preview video, while Ronit Roy is seen as her trainer. The upcoming film is being made simultaneously in several languages ​​- Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

The tech team includes Vishnu Sarma as cinematographer, Jonny Shaik Basha as art director, Junaid Siddiqui as editor and Kecha as stunt director.
